  • Legitimate Interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): For analytics (Matomo), technical delivery of emails, fraud prevention, and improving our website.

4. Purpose of Processing

  • Collect anonymized analytics to improve the website (Matomo)

5. Lead Collection (Listmonk / Hetzner)

  • Emails and names are stored on our server hosted by Hetzner in Germany
  • Data is not shared with third parties
  • Double-Opt-in is used to confirm subscription
  • Users may unsubscribe at any time via the link provided in emails

6. Email Delivery via AWS SES

We use Amazon Web Services Simple Email Service (AWS SES) to deliver emails. AWS SES acts as a data processor on our behalf.

  • Data categories: email address, name (if provided), technical delivery data (time, IP, status of delivery, bounce/complaint notifications)
  • Processing purpose: delivery of course updates and marketing emails, maintaining system security and deliverability
  • Legal basis: Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for marketing emails; Legitimate Interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for technical delivery and bounce handling
  • Hosting location: AWS EU Region (Frankfurt or other EU regions)
  • Third-country transfer: AWS is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, ensuring appropriate safeguards
  • Retention: Emails and delivery metadata are retained until the user unsubscribes or for a maximum of 3 years after last contact

7. Analytics (Matomo)

  • Matomo is self-hosted on our German server (Hetzner)
  • IP addresses are anonymized
  • No personal data is shared with third parties
  • Users may opt-out at any time using the Matomo opt-out link
  • Data is retained for 180 days unless anonymized earlier

8. Cookies & Tracking

  • Currently, we do not use cookies for marketing or tracking
  • If Matomo is enabled, minimal anonymized cookies may be used
  • Users will be informed and can opt-out at any time
  • Cookie consent banner will be added before any tracking

9. Data Retention

  • Lead emails: until unsubscribe or 3 years after last contact
  • Analytics logs: anonymized and deleted after 180 days
  • Other personal data: stored only as long as necessary for the purpose collected

  • Delete your personal data (“Right to be forgotten”)

  • All servers are located in the EU
  • AWS may process data in other countries under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework
  • If other third-country services are used in the future, we will implement appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses)
